3 Workout Mixes To Get You Sweating and Shaking

Life Time Group Fitness - November 14, 2012

Admit it. Sometimes you find yourself working out at Life Time, literally jamming to your favorite tunes. Either in a Group Fitness class or working out on the fitness floor, music provides great motivation to get your workout in.

Need proof? Research conducted over the last 20 years has shown that music is a motivation factor when exercising. A study, the Effects of Music on Exercise, noted that 97% of college students in an aerobics class felt music aided their physical performance. The music motivated them to continue the activity at hand because it gave them something to focus on.

The intensity of the exercise you choose to do drives music choice. Cardio exercise requires more beats per minute (BPM) in a song, for example, than a weight-lifting or yoga class may require. Consider this factor when creating your next playlist.

On November 5, our Life Time Fitness Facebook page asked our members about their music preference, "What made the top of the playlist for your workouts this week?" We complied the answers, talked with some of our favorite Group Fitness Instructors and created knock-out, rock-out playlists to motivate you during any workout.
